WHY does watermelon not sink in water?

Cause it looks like a ball, and it doesn’t sink! Yet watermelon is many times heavier than a ball, and it would seem that it should sink.

The answer to this question lies not in the form, but in the content.

Thing is, the striped berry is mainly composed of water. However, due to the fact that its flesh is porous, its density is less than that of water. For this reason, the berry does not sink, but floats on the surface of the liquid.
