WHY do dogs dig holes?

It is worth noting that dogs were not always pets. And when they were wild animals, digging holes was in their blood.

It is these instincts that pets are periodically reminded of even today, which leads to an irresistible desire to dig a hole.

Oftentimes, dogs dig holes on hot summer days. They remove the top layer of soil in order to get to the cooler one and comfortably settle down there.
